You Will Study
You will explore physical and human geography and contemporary geographical issues. You will also develop your skills in fieldwork techniques, data analysis and interpretation. The following units are studied:
- Coastal Systems and Landscapes
- Contemporary Urban Environments
- Global Systems and Governance
- Water and Carbon Cycles
- Geographical Investigations
Fieldwork is a vital component of the course and you will visit different places depending on your place of study.
Paper 1 - Physical Geography: Written exam - 2 hour 30 minutes. 40% of A Level
Paper 2 - Human Geography: Written exam - 2 hour 30 minutes. 40% of A Level
NEA - Geographical Investigation: 3000 - 4000 words. 20% of A Level
Geography is very well respected by employers and educational establishments. It gives you numerical and literacy skills and shows you are able to work independently. Careers include environmental science, town planning, engineering, tourism and business.
