A Level  

Product Design utilises a wide range of design disciplines but is firmly rooted in the skills required to design and make high quality products - products that are fit for purpose, satisfy wants and needs and most importantly give you the opportunity to demonstrate your design and technology capability. This course is broken into design theory and industrial practices but also allows for workshop activity in the production of students’ projects, specialising in materials that reflect student choice. 

Assessment 

Component 1: Principles of Design and Technology - Written exam - 50% 

Component 2: Independent Design and Make Project - Controlled assessment - 50% 

Where Next 

Students who follow this programme often move into higher education and follow degree programmes such as Engineering and Architecture. Other popular course options include Industrial Design, Product Design, Graphic Design and Interior Design.
