For A Level Japanese you will cover four themes. These are:

Themes 1 and 3 - Japanese society past and present

Theme 2 - Japanese artistic and intellectual culture past and present

Theme 4 - Japanese political culture past and present
Although Japanese speaking skills are not directly assessed in the qualification, students will be encouraged to develop these skills during their studies.
Assessment
- 40% Translation into English, Reading Comprehension and Writing
- 30% Translation into Japanese and Written Response to Works
- 30% Listening, Reading and Writing
Where Next
Studying Japanese will give you something a bit different to add to your CV or university application. Many students choose to progress to university to continue their language studies, either as a stand alone degree or combined with another subject.
