Cambridge Technical Level 3 Introductory Diploma 

The Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma in ICT has been developed to meet the changing needs of the sector. The course offers a more in-depth look at ICT in the workplace, and gives you an insight into its role in specialist careers. It has been designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector and focuses on the skills, knowledge and understanding that today’s universities and employers demand. You will study the following: 

  • Application Design  

  • Fundamentals in IT 

  • Web Design and Prototyping  

  • Global Information 

One additional unit is also studied.

60% Coursework 

40% Exam

The course will equip you very well for entry into Higher Education to study ICT, software or engineering.

The use of IT is all around us. Social media is now being used for a huge range of business needs and being able to understand databases is fundamental to how business and organisations operate. This combined with the knowledge of how networks operate will provide students with a fantastic basis for further study or gaining employment. This qualification gives you an exciting opportunity to study how businesses use social media and to create your own social media campaign. You will also develop a website to help support a small business reach out to its customers.  

Assessment 

Unit 1 and 2 - exams are taken in the summer of Year 12. 

Unit 3 and 6 - coursework units are completed during Year 13.  

Where Next 

There are many varied paths that can be taken after taking this course such as social media manager, web designer, systems production and help desk operator. The subject gives you a good grounding in a range of the skills and knowledge that can either be taken further or used to support study in other areas.
