The change from school to sixth form is exciting but it is also very different. We’ll make sure you’re supported through this transition period and right through until the day you leave us.
When you join us you will receive a personal tutor. These members of staff focus on helping and supporting you throughout your studies. To keep things low-key they are available every day to help sort out any problems as and when they arise. You will benefit enormously from this and are able to study without any added stress.
Each Sixth Form also has its own dedicated Pastoral Manager. They will help you settle in and will be a vital point for you throughout your time with us.
The academic review is a regular process that is carried out across our sixth forms. Approximately every eight weeks you will receive an assessment from your subject teachers to feedback on your progress and achievement. These are measured against projected grades and are intended to help you focus and take responsibility.
The 16 - 19 Bursary Fund is available to provide financial support for students. It aims to help those most in need and is awarded subject to meeting specific eligibility criteria.
More details regarding awards available and eligibility can be viewed in the Prospective Students / Finance Section on this website.
Higher Education and Employment
A large proportion of our students progress to their first choice university once they have completed their studies. We guide them through the whole UCAS process; from selecting the right university to completing and submitting their application. We provide the opportunity to visit universities and students attend the Higher Education convention at the University of Hull in June. Students also receive information about student finance and university life; exploring their full options. More information regarding UCAS can be found on their website: www.ucas.com
Careers information, advice and guidance also feature highly. For those students looking to gain employment or an apprenticeship we provide a variety of resources to help and assist them. Our Pathways Events include CV and letter writing workshops and specialist led sessions on apprenticeship/career routes available.
